My Journey with Sourdough.

It all begins with an idea.

I know, I know. “Not another post about Sourdough Bread,” you’re probably thinking. This is not another post about Sourdough bread. This is a post about my journey with sourdough as it begins.
I became curious about the idea of creating my own sourdough starter about 2 years ago. I was in school and I was baking on the weekends. I wasn’t necessarily happy at school, as we all know baking was on my mind and I just wanted to bake. I saw all these posts about bakers making their own sourdough bread from a starter and I thought, “How hard can it be?” Well really hard actually, especially when you don’t follow the discarding and feeding schedule accurately. Also you need to have the right flour to work with.
In my journey, I’ve failed so many times with building a sourdough starter already. But I kept at it because it made me curious and I wanted to master something I couldn’t do. I am in no way a master of sourdough, but I’ve made it to the point where I’ve been able to make a beautiful loaf of bread. I’ve studied it for a year now and done research on different sourdough bakers. It still mystifies me, challenges me, and sparks curiosity in me as to how sourdough works, but I am learning each time I work with it and it truly is a wonderful craft to get into.
I think everyone who starts in sourdough has their own process or. journey to getting there. I do not compare myself to other bakers, but yet I learn from their knowledge and skills and apply it to my own.
